Organic, Biodynamic and Conventional Cropping Systems

$10.00

SOIL QUALITY: Field research results of a two-decade trail in Sweden where Will Brinton spent part of his early years training. The study compares soil and crop quality under conventional, organic and biodynamic production systems. These system utilize crop rotations and varying soil treatments (raw manure, composted manure and chemical fertilizers) in varying fashions. The report is unique in presenting a comprehensive, long-term trail, including discussion of technique and use of biological testing methods. Results include storability (shelf life), enzyme activity, respiration quotients, earthworm counts, porosity, humus-chromotography used to depict quality differences arising from the different production systems.

Numerous tables give crop nutrient content, storage quality and energy yields between the different methods and effects on soil composition over the years. An important book for concerned growers and researchers interested in comparison studies. WIll Brinton prepared the translations from Swedish and German.
